During the final month of 2020 nearly 5,000 people opened 58,000 doors on the first-ever Leavenworth Village of Lights Online Advent Calendar. Howell at the Moon was commissioned by the Leavenworth Chamber of Commerce to design, launch and operate the virtual holiday activity in an effort to provide online alternatives to travel during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Each day in December a new door opened on the online calendar for 24 hours, revealing prizes from local Leavenworth vendors. Participants were entered into a daily drawing as well as earning an additional entry for each door opened during the month into the Grand Prize Drawing on Christmas for one of two Bavarian Village Vacation Packages.

To encourage the delay of travel plans until the pandemic has subsided, all prizes were delivered in January 2021 and carried no expiration dates.

Local Leavenworth artist and graphic designer Mahria Crawford worked with Howell at the Moon to design a stunning, wintry holiday landscape with snowflakes for all the doors. In all, more than $5,000 in prizes (all purchased locally by the Chamber of Commerce) were awarded to 27 happy winners over the course of the month.
